For over 100 years, March 8th has marked International Womens Day, a day of celebrating women’s social, economic and cultural achievements all over the world. This year, the United Nations has designated the theme to be Invest in Woman: Accelerate Progress. This theme highlights the importance of investing in women’s education, economic empowerment, healthcare, and the development of leadership to accelerate progress towards gender equality. 

In honour of this years theme, I have found 10 female owned brands you can support today and every other day to accelerate the progress of Women owned businesses.

Renway

Renway, founded by london based designer Reni is on track to being the brand of the summer. Having only released her sell out Reni Ribbed set 6 Months ago, Reni is building a community of bold girls who refuse to conform or shrink themselves.

Neimil

Neimil, a South African based design and lifestyle brand founded by Keneilwe Mothoa & Lubabalo Mxalisa in 2018. They tell authentic African stories through theur hand crafted homeware, clothes and accessories.

Lapp

Lapp the brand has made its mark as a cult favourite for athleisure by men and women all over the world. Founded in 2016 by british supermodel and presenter Leomie Anderson, Lapp perfectly embodies the 21st century womans lifestyle, changing body and pushes boundaries in gym wear and fashion.

1xblue

Founded only 4 years ago by Lois Saunders, 1XBLUE has revived the meaning of sustainability in womenswear. Starting out with footballs scarfs upcycled into lace up tops, Saunders moved onto crochet bikinis, reworked watch strappy heels and patchwork jeans. The brand has been spotted on fashion favourites including Julia Fox, Amaarae and Kali Uchis.

Founded by two school friends with a love for bold gold jewellery, Epifene is a black-owned, female-owned, dream. They specialise in gold and rhodium coated, innovative jewellery that makes a statement.

Farai London

Farai London, black and female owned, is a summer staple for the girls and now the boys too! Their stunning hand painted prints are one of a kind, coming in a variety of dress styles, skirts, bikinis and more recently a turquoise satin shirt that scream date night. Sharkkini

Run by all-around creative, Sharkkana, this streetwear and swimwear brand is exclusively for the grown and sexy. Their best seller, Fly trackie, was on everyones wishlist this A/W but keep an eye out for their next drop. I have a feeling it’ll be a Y2K esque summer dream.

Founded in 2013 by sisters Sammy and Stephanie Frost, Pretty Lavish is perfect for the minimalist girls who prioritise wearability, quality and comfort. Specialising in occasion wear and bridesmaid dresses, the brand also carries all the elevated basics you’d need to step up your style.

Rendoll

Rendoll is the woman-owned, attainable luxury brand making head turning pieces for women everywhere. Founded by Nigerian fashion and beauty entrepreneur Reni Abina, the brand instills confidence and a feminine sensuality through every piece.
